This is Starla. Starla is married to Ryan. They have 3 little boys named Cash, Austin and Braxton. A typical family who is giving everything they can just to make it right now. Recently, Starla has been diagnosed with Choriocarcinoma cancer and it has spread to her lungs. Choriocarcinoma cancer is a malignant, fast-growing tumor that develops from trophoblastic cells (cells that help an embryo attach to the uterus and help form the placenta). Almost all choriocarcinomas form in the uterus after fertilization of an egg by a sperm, but a small number form in a testis or an ovary. Choriocarcinomas spreads through the blood to other organs, especially the lungs. Starla has great odds for recovery however she has no insurance to cover the procedures that she needs done.

The surgery that Starla received today wasn't the hysterectomy as she was expecting. Instead the procedure she received today was to get her ready for her chemo treatment. Keep her in your prayers!

Starla wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love. She gave them a call and they informed her that they would only except her hair if it was shaved before chemo treatment had begun. So Starla being the giving person that she is said goodbye the her Locks that she loved so much a little early so she could help others in need.

I know it is a crazy and tough economic time for us all but I am sure there are a lot of us who are not going through what Starlas family is going through right now. Starla and I have been friends for 11 years now. I have always known her to be an honest, caring, fun loving girl. Starla is the type of person that reminds you of all the joys in life. Unfortunately life has recently dealt Starla a difficult hand. As she was telling me of her diagnosis of Choriocarcinoma cancer she did it with such optimism in her voice. No doubt everything was going to be just fine. For those who know nothing of this cancer, its an aggressive cancer of the placenta. Choriocarcinoma cancer spreads quickly. The good new is that It is 90 to 95 percent curable as long as it doesn’t spread to the liver or brain. So far it has only spread to her lungs. As she begins her journey and road to recovery with chemo treatments, She’ll have the love and support of her sweet husband Ryan and her 3 beautiful boys. This is a family that will grow in their love for each other as they endure this time in their life, looking forward with excitement to a time that they will get to do their favorite family activities again. Those boys keep Starla and Ryan busy with camping, fishing and all the baseball games. Starla absolutely loves every minute of it. Starla loves being a mom and a wife and she it great at it.
